MEET SELENA!
This is the story of how God is revitalizing young people in Johnson City through LXI. Consider giving today to make our community a better place to grow up!
Revitalize: verb: to inspire something with new life and vitality. Read Selena's story about what revitalization means to her below!
"Two big things in my life are I am an orphan and a little sister. I grew up living with my grandma, and now I live with parents that are not mine. Being a little sister, no one really asked 'how is Lakayla' because the focus was on my other siblings. The first part of my life was just a struggle. It felt scary and dark, and I really just felt alone."
Lakayla is 15 years old and a sophomore at Happy Valley. Lakayla has been a part of the LXI Fam since she was 11 years old! Words that describe her are energetic, goofy, daring, loving, and caring!
"In my life revitalization means waking up with a different perspective. When God came into my life, I became less about myself and more understanding of others. If people don't know God, then they don't know to be different. Now I can see that they are hurting. Instead of focusing on what's happened to me, I look at what I can do for others. I try to spread positivity at my school because it's a very broken place.
I want to see revitalization in my family and friends. I want them to understand my faith and to try to know Christ for themselves. I know that without Him, they are probably alone, confused, and lost. I feel insecure sometimes, but I am trying to believe that God is using me as a light!"
Your gift will help us continue to revitalize lives in our city!
