Revitalize: verb: to inspire something with new life and vitality. Read Jed's story about what revitalization means to her below!
Meet Jed! He is 18 and in his freshman year at Northeast State Community College with a major in Criminal Justice. He has been around LXI for 5 years, bringing a personality that is outgoing, passionate, caring, generous, and dependable.
Three big markers in Jed's story involve homelessness, depression and anxiety, and LXI.
"I was homeless at one point and that experience overall changed my mentality for anything else in the future. It made me look at people, the world, and struggles differently. I also went through a period of depression and anxiety where I tried to take my life a few times and ended up spending some time in facilities for a few years. The third big moment in my life was coming to LXI. Just by seeing how everyone cared and how happy everyone was, I knew I needed that in my life if I wanted to change who I was and how I felt."
"To me, revitalization means to be changed. Revitalization in my life started when I went to Philadelphia with LXI. I believed in God but was struggling in my faith. Helping people and seeing what God did to help those in that community really opened my eyes to what I could do as a follower and it made my belief stronger."
"In my life, I still want to see revitalization in my walk with God. I want to dedicate more time to God. I feel like that will reopen my eyes to him and bring me closer to him. When I give him more time, he gives more of himself and he's right there."
